For your information, it's useful to know that most of the cPanel Hosting offerings on the current web hosting marketplace are generated by a very insignificant business segment (when it comes to yearly cash flow) named reseller hosting. Reseller website hosting is a kind of a small marketing niche, which generates a big number of different web hosting brand names, yet offering strictly the same services: chiefly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Owing to the fact that at least 98 percent of the hosting offerings on the whole web hosting market provide precisely the same thing: cPanel. There's no difference at all. Even the cPanel Hosting prices are identical. Very much alike. Leaving for those who require a top web hosting service practically no other website hosting platform/hosting Control Panel alternative. Thus, there is merely one fact: out of more than 200,000 web hosting brands worldwide, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2 percent! Less than two percent, mind that one...

Two hundred thousand "Hosting distributors", all cPanel-based, yet differently branded

The Hosting "diversity" and the web hosting "offers" Google shows to all of us come down to merely one thing: cPanel. Under 100's of thousands of different hosting trademarked names. Imagine you are merely an ordinary chap who's not well aware of (as most of us) with the site creation procedures and the website hosting platforms, which in fact power the various domain names and online portals. Are you prepared to make your hosting selection? Is there any website hosting option you can pick? Of course there is, today there are more than two hundred thousand website hosting corporations out there. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than 98 percent of these 200,000+ unique web hosting brands in the world will offer you precisely the same cPanel web hosting Control Panel and platform, dubbed differently, with exactly the same price tags! WOW! That's how enormous the variety on today's web hosting marketplace is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTO we are all part of

Simple math reveals that to select a non-cPanel based web hosting company is a gigantic stroke of fortune. There is a less than one in 50 chance that a phenomenon like that will take place! Less than 1 in fifty...

The pluses and minuses of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be relentless with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was trendy and presumably satisfied most web hosting industry prerequisites. In short, cPanel can do the trick if you have only one domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Negative Aspect No.1: An imbecilic domain name folder structure

If you have two or more domain names, though, be extra attentive not to remove entirely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will dub each subsequent hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domain names are quite simple to delete on the server, since they all are created into the root folder of the default domain, which is the very well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder located inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to remove the files of the add-on domains, please. Determine for yourself how good cPanel's domain folder system is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you getting nonplussed? We positively are!

Negative Side No.2: The very same mail folder configuration

The electronic mail folder arrangement on the server is absolutely the same as that of the domain names... Repeating the same mistake twice?!? The sysadmin chaps strongly reinforce their belief in God when tackling the email folders on the electronic mail server, praying not to bungle things up too seriously.

Negative Point Number 3: An utter deficiency of domain name management GUIs

Do we need to mention the sheer deficiency of a modern domain name management interface - a place where you can: register/transfer/renew/park or manage domains, alter domain names' Whois information, secure the Whois information, change/set up name servers (DNS) and Domain Name System records? cPanel does not contain such a "contemporary" user interface at all. That's a major downside. An unjustifiable one, we would like to add...

Downside Number Four: Many login locations (min 2, maximum three)

What about the necessity for another login to avail of the billing, domain name and technical support management menu? That's apart from the cPanel login credentials you've been already supplied by the cPanel Hosting supplier. Sometimes, on the basis of the billing platform (especially intended for cPanel solely) the cPanel Hosting corporation is availing of, the zealous users can end up with two additional login places (1: the invoicing/domain administration user interface; 2: the trouble ticket support system), ending up with an aggregate of 3 user login places (counting cPanel).

Weak Side Number Five: More than one hundred and twenty web hosting CP menus to get to know... promptly

cPanel offers for your consideration more than a hundred and twenty menus inside the web hosting CP. It's a fantastic idea to get to know each one of them. And you'd better get to know them promptly... That's way too impertinent on cPanel's side.

With all due recognition, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based Hosting vendors:

As far as we are aware of, it's not the year 2001, is it? Note that one as well...
